PE and Sport at Carole Park State School
At Carole Park State School, our PE program is based on the Australian curriculum, with the content for each unit of work aligning with three main strands – those being;
- Moving our body
- Understanding movement, and
- Learning through movement.
Throughout their primary school journey, students will experience a curriculum that develops knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to their health, wellbeing, safety and participation in physical activity. Students will experience a wide range of activities, including active play and minor games, fundamental movement skills, challenge and adventure activities, lifelong physical activities, games and sports, and rhythmic movement activities.
We have a fantastic community swimming facility on site, and we make use of this each year, with students having the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons during Term one and Term four. These lessons culminate in our annual swimming carnival and junior swimming fun days each December.
Throughout the year we also have our annual cross country and athletics events, which are not only a valuable experience for students, but also give those that excel, a chance to represent our school at district and regional level.
Physical Education and sport can play an important role in the development of children. Along with the physical skills that students gain along the way, participating in sport and physical activity can assist in the development of social skills, co-ordination, core strength, balance, and resilience.
We aim to make physical activity an enjoyable experience for students – to help them develop a lifelong love of being active.
